Assistant Professor Amanda Hovious is the newest addition to the SLIM faculty. She holds a PhD in Information Science from the University of North Texas, a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of North Dakota, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. Dr. Hovious studies the complexity (or uncertainty) of human-computer interaction through a blended lens of Shannon information theory and cybernetics. Her research is published in journals that include Library Trends, Journal of Documentation, Reference Services Review, and Technology, Knowledge, and Learning.
